I. Objectives: 
1. Knowledge. By the end of the lesson, students should be able to know: 
- Practice the vocabulary and pronunciation of the unit

Activity 1. (5’) 
Aim: Ss play games to get ready for the topic
-Ss call out some festivals they remember from the previous lesson. Tell them that in this leson they are going to learn some expressions with the word related to the topic. 
Activity 2. 20’
Aim: Ss can use vocabularies related to the topic "Festivals in VietNam".
- Ss introduce words they prepare at home.
- T checks and guides ss to read.
- Ss read the first halves of sentences in column A them with the second halves in column B.
- Ss compare with their partner.
- Some ss give the answers. 
- Other ss give comment & correct.
- Ss work in individual. Some Ss give the answers. Others write the correct answers on the board. 
- The whole class to give comment and correct.
- T sums up main content.
- Ss work in pairs: match verbs with nouns on a piece of paper the swap the answers with another pair.
-Some ss give their ideas. 
-Other ss remark and comment.
Activity 2. 15’
Aim: Ss pronounce the stress in words ending in -ion/-ian
- Ss look at the word list and answer. 
- Ss answer and sum up.
- T: model stress in different words with the ending -ion and-ian. 
- Ss look at the rules in the Remember box. Discuss the rule with the class and elicit some pronunciations from Ss.
- T repeats: with the words ending in the suffix -ion and- ian the syllable immediately before the suffix
- Ss listen and repeat the words, pay attention to the stress on the syllable immediately before the ending -ion and -ian. 
- Some Ss read the words they hear aloud, pay attention to the stress of the words.
- T corrects their pronunciation. 
- Ss listen to the recording and stress the words. Pay attention to the stress before the ending -ion and - ian.
- Ss give the answers then listen again to check their answers. 
- Ss find the words that have the ending - ion and ian.
Activity 4. (5’)
Aim: Ss summary content and are guided to study at home.
- Repeat the main points in the lesson.
- T gives out the work and guides ss to prepare for the new lesson.

- Practice saying sentences with correct stress on words
- Ss will be able to use the lexical items related to Festivals in Viet Nam and pronounce correctly.

- Connect each pair of sentences with an approriate conjunction in a box to make compound sentences.
-Ss read all the sentences and conjunctions in the box. Ss pay attention to the Remember box first.

I. GRAMMAR
- Simple sentence
1. My mother likes cooking very much. 
- Compound sentence
2. While my mother was cooking in the kitchen, my father came.
Ex: I was tired, so I went to bed early.
A sentence that has two verbs as in the sentence is still a simple sentence because it has only one clause.
Each clause is of equal importance and could stand alone. They can be joined with conjunctions and, but, or, so, yet or conjunctive adverbs however, neverthless, moreover, therefore, otherwise. 
- Complex sentence
 + It includes one independent clause and one or more dependent clause. The dependent clause can go before or after the independent clause. (dependent clause standing before, it’s followed by a comma; without a comma when standing after the independent clause)
+ The dependent clause begins with: when, while, because, although/even though, if
