I. Objectives:

Activity 1. Warm up (5’)
Aim: To attract Ss’ attention to the lesson and to lead in the new lesson.
- Ss repeat the words or phrases indicating the folk tales they have learned in the previous lesson.
-Lead to the new lesson.
Activity 2. 20’
Aim: Ss can use vocabularies related to the topic.
- Ss read the characters in the box and match them with the suitable pictures.
- Ss work in individually then compare with their partner.
- Ss give the answers 
- Ss compare the answers with their friends’ on the board then give the correct answers 
- Match the adjectives with the pictures
- Ss work in pairs.
- Some Ss read the words in the box carefully to make sure they understand the sentences. 
- Ss read the sentences carefully then share their answers. 
- Ss write the correct answers on the board.
- Ss work individually complete the table
- Ss write the correct answers on the board 
-Ss work in pairs using the adjs in a to describe characters in one of their favorite folk tales.
-Some ss say the sentences in front of the class.
Activity 2. 15’
Aim: Sts read the intonation in exclamatory.
-Ss read out the sentences first.
-Ss read the words silently.
-Ss listen and repeat the recording, pay attention to the intonation of each sentence. 
-Ss listen and repeat the words they hear. Some ss read the words they hear aloud. 
-Ss read aloud the words. 
-T corrects their pronunciation.

Aim: Ss summary content and are guided to study at home.
- Repeat the main points in the lesson.
- T gives out the work and guides ss to prepare for the new lesson.

- Practice saying sentences with correct stress on words
- Ss will be able to use the lexical items related to the topic and pronounce correctly.

- Love reading stories, characters in the folk tales, and as well as students’ imaginative stimulate.
- Have respect for teachers.

Aim: Ss answer question to get ready for the topic
- What did you do yesterday?
- What did you do last Sunday?
- What were you doing at 8 pm yesterday?
- What were you doing at 9 am last Sunday?
Activity 2: 10’
Aim: Sts learn the past continuous tense and apply to do exerices. 
-Ss do the exercise individually then compare with their partner.
-Ss give the answers. 
-Ss compare the answers with their friends’ on the board then give the correct answers. 
-T elicit some rules from ss.
-Ss think about T’s requess and give the rules they guess.
-T gives feed back and asks them to read the Grammar box.
-Analyze the examples in the Grammar box.
-Ss give some more examples.
Activity 2. 25’
Aim: Ss can use the grammar and doing exercises.
- Ss work individually, look at the grammar box if necessary. 
- Ss do the exercise and compare the answers in pairs before checking with the whole class.
- Ss do this exercise individually then compare the answers with partners.

I. GRAMMAR
* Past continuous.
1. Form:
(-) S + were/ was + V-ing
(+) S + weren’t/ wasn’t + V-ing
(?) Were/ Was + S + V-ing ?
* Short answers:
(+) Yes, S + were/ was.
(-) No, S + weren’t/ wasn’t.
2. Use
- To describe an action that was in progress at a stated time in the past.
Ex: At 6 pm yesterday, I was cooking.
- To describe an action that was in progress when another shorter action happened. (this shorter action is expressed by the simple past.)
Ex: When she phoned me last night, I was sleeping.
She phoned me last night while I was sleeping.

- Gifted students: Read comprehension the related texts.

- Love reading stories, characters in the folk tales, and as well as students’ imaginative stimulate.
- Develop listening, speaking skills and cooperative interaction

Activity 1. (5’)
Aim: To attract Ss’ attention to the lesson and to lead in the new lesson.
Guessing Game:
What story is it?
These words related to the story: two brothers, fruit, bag, eager, gold, sea

Activities 2. 20’
Aim: Ss can know some words and lead in the text. Help Ss read about the fable and answer the questions.
- Ask ss to scan the passage to find the words in the box. 
- Help Ss work out the meanings of these words from the context.
-Ss read the text again and answer the question individually.
-Ss compare the answers with a classmate.
-Some ss write the answers on the board and T: ask them to explain their answers. Ss can either paraphrase the original information from the text or read out loud the part of the text where the answer to each answer is located 
* For gifted students: Read comprehension the related texts and give the full answers.
- Find words in the passage that have similar meaning to these words or phrases.
- T: confirm the correct answers.
-Ss read all the sentences and decide which word form the blanks need.
-Ss try to complete the sentences without reading the text again. 
-Ss compare the answers with a partner. 
-Check and confirm the correct answers from the text.
Activity 3 (15’) 
Aim: Read and speak about the story they like. 
- Ask ss to work individually to read the stories summarizes. 
- Help them with any new vocabulary.
- Ss work in pairs, asking and answering about the stories 
- T goes around the class to provide help.
- Call ss to answer the questions.
Activity 4. (5’)
Aim: Ss summary content and are guided to study at home.	
- Repeat the main points in the lesson.
- T gives out the work and guides ss to prepare for the new lesson.

- Starfruit Tree: tree with green fruit shaped like a star.

- filled: put gold into the gab until there is no more space.

1. He gave his younger brother only a star ftuit tree.
2. The eager promised to repay him in gold.
3. He offered to swap his fortune for his brother’s starfruit tree.
4. He filled a very large bag and all his pockets with gold.
